Surrender: Hannah & Mary

Hannah and Mary in 6 days. Two women give God what they can't control, and both answer with a song.

Each day, read the passage and write a SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) with the day's question in mind.

Day 1: 1 Samuel 1:1–18. Hannah didn't hide her pain from God. What do you need to stop pretending about when you pray?
Day 2: 1 Samuel 1:19–28. Hannah kept her promise even when it cost her. What have you promised God that you need to follow through on?
Day 3: 1 Samuel 2:1–11. Hannah sang right after leaving her son. What would it look like to worship in a moment of letting go?
Day 4: 1 Samuel 2:12–26. Samuel grew up faithful right next to Eli's corrupt sons. How can you stay faithful when the people around you aren't?
Day 5: Luke 1:26–38. "I am the Lord's servant" (1:38). How is Mary's surrender like Hannah's?
Day 6: Luke 1:46–56. Mary's song echoes Hannah's. What do both songs say about the kind of people God lifts up?
