Gideon: Mighty Warrior?

Gideon in 6 days. God calls a frightened man a mighty warrior, then wins a battle with 300 men, trumpets and jars.

Each day, read the passage and write a SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) with the day's question in mind.

  1. Day 1: Judges 6:1–24. God called Gideon "mighty warrior" while he was hiding. What do you think God sees in you that you don't see yet?
  2. Day 2: Judges 6:25–40. Gideon obeyed, but at night because he was afraid. What does obeying God look like for you when you're scared?
  3. Day 3: Judges 7:1–14. God made the army smaller on purpose. Why do you think God sometimes takes away what we're relying on?
  4. Day 4: Judges 7:15–25. The 300 won with trumpets and jars, not swords. Where do you need to trust God's way over your own strength?
  5. Day 5: Judges 8:1–21. After the victory, Gideon's anger came out. How do you handle success, and the people who let you down?
  6. Day 6: Judges 8:22–35. Gideon said the right words but didn't finish well. What would it look like for you to finish well?
